Information on volunteer activities on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, from 4:45 PM to 6:30 PM at Vuosaaren kirjasto's Stage, Mosaiikkitori 2, 00980 Hki. Have you just retired and are wondering what meaningful things to do? Could volunteering be for you? This free training is for anyone interested. We'll cover the basics of volunteering, practical matters, and interaction skills – you'll gain good readiness to start. You can receive a certificate from the training. As a volunteer, you work when it suits you. There are many types of tasks available with different target groups, and you'll learn about them during the training. Experts will be present at the training to specifically introduce regional volunteering opportunities at the library, community centre, youth centre, Vuotalo, and sports guidance activities. Volunteers are needed, for example, to help with events, encourage physical activity, assist in the daily life of the youth centre, lead groups, provide homework help, and shelve books.
The job of a reading dog is to listen to the reader and provide a presence. They don't judge or point out if the reader makes an error, reads more slowly than others or hesitates.
